I enjoyed reading all of your suggestions on how to cheer up in January. Changing your surroundings and doing something fun is a good idea, and it is of course good to be as positive as possible in general.

I also sometimes watch something on TV that will make me laugh if I am depressed. I really like the US comedies Friends or Ugly Betty. They always make me smile and I have them on DVD at home.

A lot of you mentioned music and that is also a common 常见 way to forget your misery 痛苦. You asked me what music I liked and I thought I would talk about that today.

I do know Tori Amos and I like some of her music but she isn't one of my favourites. I actually like all different kinds of music. I play the drums so I like songs with really good beats 鼓点 that you can dance to. So I listen to a lot of what we call dance music in the UK. Tunes 音乐 that you might hear in night clubs and dance to. And I also like hip hop and rap music.

I really like pop music as it makes me feel happy when I listen to it. One of my favourite singers is Kylie MInogue. She's from Australia but she is famous all over the world and very famous in the UK.



I have seen her in concert before and I am going to see her play in London in July. She has been making music since the 1980s and this year she is going to be given an OBE - that's an award 奖项 from the Queen, for her contribution to the music industry. Kylie has been in the news a lot over the past couple of years because she sadly had breast cancer 乳腺癌 but she is now recovered and making music again.

I actually like all the big international pop stars - Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado. I was actually lucky enough to get tickets to see the Spice Girls when they played in London this month. I was never a huge fan of the Spice Girls but I always liked them and this could be the last chance we get to see them, so I bought a ticket. I also like singing karaoke and their hit 'Wannabe' is a song I LOVE to sing!!

They played in a very large arena 室内体育场 and I was very high up above the stage and sitting near the back. They played a great show though - they performed all their hits and they wore lots of different outfits 套装. This is a picture from when they were famous in the 1990s.



Other people I like who are currently in the top twenty of the music charts 音乐排行榜 this week in the UK are Britney Spears, boy band Take That and British singer Amy Winehouse. I also quite like listening to jazz music, and I do take an interest in new music and bands because I often play in bands myself.

Hope that answers your question about what music I like. Do you like the same music as me? Or are there different people you like? Maybe you can introduce some Chinese bands and singers to me that you like? I don't know any and I would be interested to find out more.
