Earth Hour is an international event organised by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature/World Wildlife Fund), and held on the last Saturday of March each year, which asks households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. Earth hour was conceived by WWF Australia and the Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, when 2.2 million residents of Sydney participated by turning off all non-essential lights.Following Sydney's lead, many other cities around the world adopted the event in 2008.
Earth Hour will next take place on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 8:30 pm, local time.

Earth Hour 2009 is from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. local time, 2009-03-28. Currently, 82 countries and more than 2100 cities are 'committed to Earth Hour 2009', a huge increase from people participating in 35 countries for Earth Hour 2008. 1 billion 'votes' is the stated aim for Earth Hour 2009, in the context of the pivotal 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference.
Among the participants this year is, for the first time, the United Nations building. The U.N. conservatively estimates that its participation will save $102 in energy

With 35 countries around the world participating as official flagship cities and over 400 cities also supporting, Earth Hour 2008 was celebrated on all seven continents. Iconic landmarks all around the world turned off their non-essential lighting for Earth Hour which included the Empire State Building (New York City), Sears Tower (Chicago), Golden Gate Bridge (San Francisco), Bank of America Plaza (Atlanta), Sydney Opera House (Sydney, Australia), Wat Arun Buddhist Temple (Bangkok, Thailand), the Colosseum (Rome, Italy), Royal Castle (Stockholm, Sweden), London's City Hall (England), Space Needle (Seattle, USA), the CN Tower (Toronto, Canada) and SM Mall of Asia & SM Science Discovery Center (Manila, Philippines).
The official website for the event, earthhour.org, received over 6.7 million unique visitors in the week leading up to Earth Hour. Other websites took part in the event, with Google's homepage going "dark" on the day Earth Hour took place.
According to a Zogby International online survey 36 million people participated in Earth Hour 2008. The survey also showed there was a 4 percentage point increase in awareness of environmental issues such as climate change, directly after the event.

处理原则如下：
1.马蜂毒呈弱碱性，可用食醋或1%醋酸或无极膏擦洗伤处。
2、伤口残留的毒刺可用针或镊子挑出，但不要挤压，以免剩余的毒素进入体内，然后再拔火罐吸出毒汁，减少毒素的吸收。
3.用冰块敷在蛰咬处，可以减轻疼痛和肿胀。如果疼痛剧烈可以服用一些止痛药物。
4.如果有蔓延的趋势，可能有过敏反应，可以服用一些抗过敏药物，如苯海拉民、扑而敏等抗过敏药物。
5.密切观察半小时左右，如果发现有呼吸困难、呼吸声音变粗、带有喘息声音，哪怕一点也要立即送最近的医院去急救。

补充资料：
一位昆虫学的教授说，马蜂作为一种益虫，以虫子为食，它一般只有在受到攻击的时候才蛰人，目前还没有一个好的防治马蜂的方法，平常采取的办法只有火烧、喷药剂灭杀。万一碰到马蜂，最好马上蹲下来，用衣服把头包好，这样可以临时预防。
专家提醒：不小心惹得马蜂“发火”时，可以趴下不动，千万不要狂跑，以免马蜂群起追击。被马蜂蜇后伤口会立刻红肿，且感到火辣辣的痛。此时，应马上涂抹一些碱水，使酸碱中和，减弱毒性，亦可起到止痛的作用。如果当时有洋葱，洗净后切片在伤口上涂抹，此外还可用母乳、风油精、清凉油等去除蜂毒，但切记不可用红药水或碘酒搽抹，那样不但不能治疗，反而会加重肿胀!若遭遇蜂群攻击时应立即就医，不可掉以轻心。
注意：特别提醒大家重视的是任何损伤，都不要以土、破布、脏手绢等东西堵塞伤口，以免发生破伤风，造成人为的死亡。
我们一般常见的蜂有蜜蜂、（黄）马蜂。如果是蜜蜂蜇的，它的刺会留在人体内，可以先把断刺拔出。由于蜜蜂毒液为酸性，因此可用3的肥皂水或5的氨水清洗；要是被黄(马）蜂蜇伤，则要用食醋止痛止痒。

有人对我说．"你以为你出国就了不起了？"
出国的人, 没有什么了不起的, 真的, 出来有段年头的我也没有觉得出国有什么了不起的．
但是, 出国以后, 我们每个人都很了不起．

如此说是因为, 我们有着其他人不能体会的辛酸苦辣, 也看过和经过太多气愤无奈．

可是从来不愿说起, 并不等于我们没有故事, 恰恰相反的是我们的故事太多, 已经不再为此大惊小怪, 或者应该说, 我们没有时间也没有精力再去想如何诉说了．
不得不承认我们的心是被扭曲的, 至少不是正常的, 我们生存在一个本来不正常的环境里面．

从踏入别人的国门, 我们就要学着精打细算, 学着兢兢业业, 学着洁身自好, 学着面对油盐酱醋, 面对锅碗瓢盆, 面对人间冷暖．

摔倒了爬起来, 明白了懂事了．

摔多了, 习惯了, 坚强了, 也孤僻了．
大事小事都要靠自己, 所以我们越来越坚强, 坚强的不习惯别人的关心,
时时刻刻都要保护自己, 所以我们越来越自恋, 自恋的忘记了还要关心别人.

我们的浮躁, 我们的自私, 逆流而上, 让我们孤僻的美丽可怜．

这不是歇斯底里, 一夜之间自己曾所熟悉的拥有的都消失不见, 取而代之的是另一个和自己格格不入的世界, 谁又会笑得很舒心？
天堂不在国外,国外不是天堂, 即便说给出来旅游的人们, 也不会相信, 反而换来的将是一句不知好歹．

我们不是来旅游的, 我们都明白接着要在国外走过的这几个灰色春夏秋冬将要如何坚强面对．

这里没有天使, 也不是天堂, 至少对于我们这群被称作外国人的群体来说, 这里绝对不是天堂．

就连我们自己在明白的时候, 也已经是在国外翻打许久以后了．
国外的时间流逝的很快, 一天分三十六个小时来用都不够．

因为我们要花太多的时间精力在一些曾经觉得微不足道的小事情．

身体很累想要睡去, 精神却还在折腾．

每天上床睡觉的时候, 才发现又预支了第二天好几个小时．

想家想父母, 但是不懂得如何能确切表达．
即便在国外学了许多语言, 却发现自己的表达能力越来越差．
"慈母手中线, 游子身上衣"这里面的分量, 心里明白, 也想说, 只是说不出来．

想家的感觉很美, 就像圆月的深夜, 想要沉浸在这个美丽中, 却有冷风时时提醒自己, 这是外国的月亮．

家, 对我们来说, 是藏在心里最暖的一个寄托, 不敢打开这个盒子, 一旦打开, 眼泪就会有流下来．

然而, 外国不需要我们的眼泪．

亲情也自然就成了一个被禁忌的话题, 成了扭着心头的痛．
我们需要的不是同情, 而是认可．
我们在国外．

努力过, 成功过, 相信过,期望过,
欣慰过, 失败过, 猜疑过, 伤心过,
失望过,愤怒过, 高兴过, 糊涂过,

领悟过, 张扬过, 虚伪过, 坦诚过,

兴奋过, 平淡过, 堕落过, 发奋过,

Case solved, right? Not quite. The United States Supreme Court entered into this fascinating debate and gave a legal verdict on whether a tomato should be classified as a vegetable or a fruit. Father's Day is a celebration inaugurated in the early twentieth century to complement Mother's Day in celebrating fatherhood and male parenting, and to honor and commemorate fathers and forefathers. Father's Day is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide and typically involves gift-giving to fathers and family-oriented activities. In 2008, it will be celebrated on June 15th in most countries.

International history and traditions

Germany
In Germany there is no such thing as Father's Day as celebrated throughout the western world. There are two terms and/or events of an older origin that while similar in name, have entirely different meanings. M?nnertag, is always celebrated on Ascension Day (the Thursday forty days after Easter), which is a federal holiday. Regionally, it is also called men's day, M?nnertag, or gentlemen's day, Herrentag. It is tradition to do a males-only hiking tour with one or more smaller wagons, Bollerwagen, pulled by manpower. In the wagons are wine or beer (according to region) and traditional regional food, Hausmannskost, which could be Saumagen, Liverwurst, Blutwurst (Blood Sausage), vegetables, eggs, etc.
Some parts of Germany (such as Bavaria) call this particular day "Vatertag", which is the literal equivalent to Father's Day.

Roman Catholic tradition
In the Roman Catholic tradition, Father's Day is celebrated on Saint Joseph's Day, commonly called Feast of Saint Joseph, March 19, though in most countries Father's Day is a secular celebration.

Taiwan
In Taiwan, Father's Day is not an official holiday, but is widely observed on August 8, the eighth day of the eighth month of the year. In Mandarin Chinese, the pronunciation of the number 8 is bā. This pronunciation is very similar to the character "爸" "bà", which means "Papa" or "father". The Taiwan, therefore, usually call August 8 by its nick name, "Bābā Day" (八八節).

Thailand
In Thailand, Father's Day is set as the birthday of the king. December 5 is the birthday of current king, Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX).

United States
In the United States, the first modern Father's Day celebration was held on July 5, 1908, in Fairmont, West Virginia or on June 19th of the same year, in the state of Washington. Today, Father's Day is celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of June.
In West Virginia, it was first celebrated as a church service at Williams Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church South, now known as Central United Methodist Church. Grace Golden Clayton, who is believed to have suggested the service to the pastor, is believed to have been inspired to celebrate fathers after the deadly mine explosion in nearby Monongah the prior December. This explosion killed 361 men, many of them fathers and recent immigrants to the United States from Italy. Another possible inspiration for the service was Mothers' Day, which had been celebrated for the first time two months prior in Grafton, West Virginia, a town about 15 miles (24 km) away.
Another driving force behind the establishment of the integration of Father's Day was Mrs. Sonora Smart Dodd, born in Creston, Washington. Her father, the Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, as a single parent reared his six children in Spokane, Washington. She was inspired by Anna Jarvis's efforts to establish Mother's Day. Although she initially suggested June 5, the anniversary of her father's death, she did not provide the organizers with enough time to make arrangements, and the celebration was deferred to the third Sunday of June. The first June Father's Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, in Spokane, WA, at the Spokane YMCA.
Unofficial support from such figures as William Jennings Bryan was immediate and widespread. President Woodrow Wilson was personally feted by his family in 1916. President Calvin Coolidge recommended it as a national holiday in 1924. In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson made Father's Day a holiday to be celebrated on the third Sunday of June. The holiday was not officially recognized until 1972, during the presidency of Richard Nixon.
In recent years, retailers have adapted to the holiday by promoting male-oriented gifts such as electronics, tools and greeting cards. Schools and other children's programs commonly have activities to make Father's Day gifts.
According to IBISWorld, a publisher of business research, Americans are expected to spend $11 billion on gifts for Father's Day in 2008. This is about $7 billion less than the amount spent on Moms for Mother's Day, which is more steeped in traditional gifts, some of which tend to be more expensive than Father's Day gifts. In economic terms, the average per capita spending on Father's Day is expected to be in the range of $27.60 in 2008, down slightly from $28.97 in 2007, which is indicative of consumer spending while the US is in the midst of a sluggish and unpredictable economy.
