In my career I haven’t had many sponsors. One of the reasons for this is that I am first of all a football player and not a marketing tool. One of the first sponsors I ever had is the famous Italian designer Giorgio Armani. He found me in Brazil when I was only 18 years old, and after 8 years I am still with his company. More recently I have signed a deal with Pepsi. It was fun recording the deal. For 2 days they closed the centre of the city of Como, a beautiful city on the Lake Como, and during the recording I had all the time hundreds of spectators looking at me. Soon the fans will be able to enjoy this on TV.

For an outsider it is difficult to understand why a footballer at my level doesn’t do more commercial work, they often think that our work is only 2 hours a day. The truth is that looking after our body to make sure we are always at the top it is a full time job. We need to work hard , rest well, eat properly, focus on what we are doing all the time. Often the difference between a good footballer and a champion is the ability to concentrate on the game 100% for all the 90 minutes , and to be able to do that I need to practice my concentration everyday all the time. And that is why I avoid taking on too many commitments outside football. This is an important rule in everything we do in life. So to my fans I would like to say: If you want to have success in life learn to focus on what you are doing. Don’t be distracted by other things .There is a time to be serious. Don’t mix things. Be focused and whatever you are doing you will be a champion.

Life in Milan
Being a Brazilian and coming from a huge city of 20 million people, I am used to cars and traffic. So when my wife and I chose house to live in, we decided to stay in the centre. Because I am busy most of the day traveling to the training ground, training, receiving medical care and so on. But my wife and the baby are being at home most of the day and it would be difficult for her if she wanted to go shopping or visit friends if we were living somewhere for out of the centre.

We chose a beautiful apartment in a 19th century building close to the famous Milan Sforza Castle, and quite close to the Milan Duomo and its beautiful square. Milan is a great place to live. it is famous as one of the capital of the world for fashion, but it also has many great restaurants, including number of good Brazilian restaurants, beautiful architecture, many museums, fashionable 19th century coffee shops and bars. So walking around Milan is a very enjoyable experience, even though it is hard for me to walk around Milan undisturbed. There are many AC Milan fans and then all want to stop me for a greeting or a picture and while I deeply appreciate there warm affection it makes difficult for me and my family to simply take a walk down the street. We sometime visit some of my teammates in Via dell’ippodromo, where most of the AC Milan players live and some of the inter Milan players too. My father and mother live there too and it is conveniently located just 10 minute walk from San Siro stadium, so the players families living there can reach the stadium on match day in just a few minutes. And last but also very important in Milan we have San Siro stadium, one of the best stadiums in the world, beautiful designed and with a capacity of 85000 seats. The atmosphere during the game is very exciting both for the crowd and the players. It is very similar to the stadium in the english premiere league where the crowd seats near the field enjoying a much better view of the game.

So I consider myself a lucky guy doing the job I most like in the world and living in a beautiful city.

Visiting Milanello training ground is an experience, and for a player training there every day it is a delight. Milanello is probably the best training ground in the world. The surroundings are beautiful and very green. Everyone of the 6 training pitches is surrounded by tall trees and flower beds. All the buildings within the training ground are informal, looking more like family houses then offices. The buildings include 2 restaurants, one for the guests and one for the players. Here they serve healthy and tasty food. Just 50mt from the restaurant area and press conference area there is a building surrounded by trees and flowers within 20mini apartments in case one or more players decide to stay overnight and for the summer period when we do preseason training.

In the heart of the training fields we have our changing rooms and the gymnasium. Inside the gymnasium there is the famous Milan lab., a special laboratory fitted with top equipment to help us players to reach maximum fitness or to recover from injuries as quickly as possible. Within the lab there is also a system to check up our body condition with vitamins and the various body values to make sure we physically healthy, so that we can prevent problems and injuries.

The whole athmosphere is very relaxing and helps us to give our best in training and to prepare properly for the game on Sunday.

Mrs.Jiang took a group of people to the Italy in July 2007, and they had rent a photostudio near the place of Milano in advance, the people of production team were all came from Italian, we could very easily to communication. The weather was fine that day and my father drived the car and picked me up to the photostudio, all the preparation is done, as soon as I arrived in the photostudio, very shortly talked with the producer and the dresser started make me up.

During the process of photoshoot, the mainly action I did were juggle the ball,dribble and pass,headball and shooting in the air etc, and then taken the group of photos of holding the box of Gloden Throat in my hand.

The producer also adopted my some suggestions such as: I dribble the tablet of Golden Throat, and then stoped it in my head.

The photoshoot lasted for about two hours, the process of photoshoot was nice and pleasant, the Chinese people were friendly and hospitality, and left me very good impression.

2007年7月，江女士带领一行人员来到了意大利，并在距离米兰城不远的地方租了一个摄影棚，摄制组人员全部是意大利人，拍摄过程的沟通非常顺畅。拍摄那天天气非常好，我父亲开车把我带到了摄影棚，没想到摄制组已经做好了拍摄前的一切准备工作，我一到，他们马上开始为我化妆并给我讲解要拍摄的内容。

拍摄过程很顺利，主要是颠球、停球、头球、凌空射门等基本动作，然后又拍摄了我拿着产品包装盒的镜头；不过摄制组也采纳了一些我的建议，比如拍摄了我像颠球一样颠了一小包金嗓子喉片，然后让它停在我的头上等镜头。

My father , Bosco gave me big help in my football career , a lot of my personal affairs was directly handled by my father , including the co-operation between golden throat an me.

I remembered one of my Italy friends gave me a box of Golden Throat wanted to use my image rights in February 2007 , I opened the boxed and picked up one tablets of Golden Throat in my mouth and tasted it is not bad ,when I backed to my training camp and shared my with teammates , the feedback was OK .

My Italy friend told me Ronaldo co-operated with Golden Throat in the past years. For the safety, my father Bosco decided to visit Chinese Golden Throat near further.

Bosco visited Chinese Golden Throat in May 2007, the factory left him very good impression ,clean workshops ,the workers were skill and good manners ,there were also some disable workers in the factory , from the publicity document of Golden Throat my father knew factory often supports the cause of the public good ,especially the board of direct Mrs. Jiang was very keen to the football, Golden Throat had their own football school which more than one hundred pupilages in the school ,my friend Ronaldo called Mrs. Jiang“football mama”.

After on-the-spot investgation , My father Bosco became more conference and suggested me that good co-operation can be done between Golden Throat and me . Soon after Mrs. Jiang visited me and we negotiated the contract. When I was stay with Mrs. Jiang , I deeply moves by her feeling of football , at last we signed the 4 years contracts.

The past 2 months have been a time of strong emotions. My farewell to Ac Milan, the club and the city where i thought I would spend the rest of my career, the confederation cup, joining Real Madrid, and now the new challenge, trying to do well in the season leading to the world cup.

The life of a footballer is a priviledged one but also quite unstable. You can't afford to get too comfortable in one club and one country, or make long term plans in one city because when you least expect it circumstances will change and you have to move again.

My next world cup is for me the focus. Brazil goes into every competition expected to be the favourite to win. That means that arriving second it is considered a failure for the public opinion and for all our fans in Brazil.

If I have to plan very long term, even beyond the 2010 world cup the biggest expectation of my whole career will be the world cup in Brazil in 2014, in my country, in what should be the final chapter of my career. But now let's focus on the 2009/2010 season at real Madrid where thousands of new fans will expect me to perform at world class level.

A Champion Need To Believe Strongly

When I was a kid growing up in Sao Paulo, I spent a lot of my free time playing football, at school, in the streets, on the beach and anywhere I could. By the time I was 13, my football ability was already special. One day my father took me to Sao Paulo team’s training ground, much to my surprise the youth coach accepted me.

It was the start of my dream, I worked really hard to succeed but after one year anther coach from the older team started giving me trouble. He was to say：“Kaka, you cannot become a footballer, your legs are like two toothpicks.”I was getting really upset. I also had the problem of poor eyesight and some of the other kids used to make fun of me. One day I came home really upset because the coach, the fitness guy and some kids had make fun of me all day, and my father told me：“you can stop playing football if you want.”I got really angry and I determined to react and show everyone I could become a champion.

This I did, and 3 years later I had my debut in the first team, when I was 19 the first club from Italy to show interest in me was Brescia, the y were not a big club but Roberto Baggio played there, unfortunately they did not have the four million USD to buy me, so I had to wait anther tow years when AC Milan came along and took me to Italy. When I joined then Rivaldo was playing in my position and I thought I would never have a chance to play. But when I had the opportunity to play I really impressed the coach and almost immediately I became a regular player for AC Milan.

The rest is history. So the lesson I learn was：if you want to have success in life and work you need to believe strongly in what you are doing and never give up.

I was born in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil but moved to Sao Paulo when I was a small kid, my father Bosco Leite decided to move because he was, and still is, a construction engineer. I have a younger brother, his name is Rodrigo when he was only two years old and he started to speak, he always used to call my name Ricardo, but could not pronounce it properly, he could only say “KaKa”, from that time my nickname became “KaKa” and still is. My little brother is now 22 years old and he is not little anymore. He also has a nickname “Digao” which names “Giant” , he is 1.95 meters high , he is a professional footballer, he belongs to AC Milan, but is playing in Belgium for Standard Liege FC.

Last year in June I became a father, our little boy is named Luca because being a Christian I decided to give him a name from the Bible, my wife Carolina is five years younger than me and she has been my childhood love, as kids we feel in love with each other and dreamed to get married one day , our dream came true and after many years we are still very much in love. All my family, apart my brother lives in Milan, but my father still need to travel to Brazil a lot because he still loves his job and has business as a construction engineer, he is very good at his job, my mother also works for a famous UK consultant company but always finds time to be a grandmother and to help my life.

I have to say that playing at AC Milan helps me to improve my skills every day, some of my teammates have great skills and make my life on the field more easy. For example:

Maldini: training every day with a champion live him teaches me professional discipline, Paolo has been playing playing at top level for 24 years, he started 5 years before pato was born, this is because as a true champion, He lives a simple life, he is a family man, he eats well every day and goes to bed early, He truly is a model an example for players who want to success.

Pato: a very exciting young talent, I believe in two or three years he will be one of the top three players in the world. He is fast and unpredictable, and often he can win a game for us with his pace and tricks, speaking the same language it’s a help, I can give him some quick advise, I am like an older brother for him on the filed and off, when he arrived in Milan everything was new for him and he often asked me advise on things like housing, learning the language, shopping and other things, I am happy to have him both at AC Milan and Brazil national team.

Inzaghi: some time they criticize him and some say he is not as exiciting as other strikers, but Inzaghi is a goal machine, you can rely on his performance every year,and even now at 35 is one of the most productive strikers on the market, he is another great example to follow.

Pirlo: probably one of the most underestimated players in Europe, he is the brain of our team, he always know what to do, when we are in trouble we pass him the ball and he will do something useful, so when I won the award as best footballer in the world, I also have to thank my teammate because they helped my career greatly and my award was their award.
