A Backpacking Journey of Changbai Mountains

An hour before sunrise, on the chilly morning of a day in the end of September 2007, two backpackers were excitingly heading to the Changbai Mountains National Nature Reserve(長白山國家級自然保護區). It is isolated in the southeast corner of Jilin province along the North Korean border. My buddy Ronny, a decent young man from Suzhou, has an interesting, well-pay job in Shenzhen city recently. Four days ago, we flew from Shenzhen to Harbin going on an 8-day journey to Changbai Mountains(長白山). Yesterday in Erdao Baihe town(二道白河鎮) a local taxi driver said there was seventy percent of opportunity having a good weather condition in mountain areas. That information was the warmest greeting words to us.

27km passed from the main gate of Northern Pass(北坡), we took 4 by 4 jeep up to the top of mountain and then ascended approximately 40 minutes steeply to summit of White Cloud (白雲峰2,744m). It is a highest mountain in northeast of China as well as on the Korean Peninsula. Despite strong, freezing cold air around 50C, the spectacular scenery of Tianchi (Haven Lake天池) and mountains are neither heavy clouds nor thick fog to be blocked. However, we still waited for a long line to take a photo. Although the park information center could provide some feathered garments to most visitors, we luckily wore Gore-Tex coats, ploy fleece jackets, and mountain boots which could resist much severe unforeseeable weather conditions.

After descended to the base of Haven Lake, walked on the small path, we were so stunned by a long, silvery waterfall with the roar of rushing water. Changbai Waterfall(長白瀑布), 68 meters of height difference, is formed by two streams coming from North of Haven Lake and flowing down the gap between the Tiawen Peak(天文峰) and Longmen Peak(龍門峰). Also, it, the source of the Songhun River(松花江), flows thousands kilometers joining to the Helong River (黑龍江) then into the Tartar Strait(韃靼海峽). Surprisingly, we did see a perfect rainbow by the reflection of fully dense mist in the brightness of noonday sun.

Took a brief rest, unloaded our backpacks, and prepared to climb up the Tianchi Passage(天池長廊) which thousands steep stairs made along on the rock side is only a tough way to touch the water of Haven Lake. Nearly 45 minutes non-stop at stairs walking plus 20 minutes on dirt path, we finally reached to our dream place – the lake of Tinchi. We were lying on the lakeside and watching this unbelievably dramatic scene; an immense, quiet lake is surrounded by high mountains under the a few clouds of blue sky; a light, cooling breeze ripples the crystal-clear water gently. We were listening to the steady rhythm of waves lapping the shore. Besides, we were joyously playing Tinchi’s chilly water by our bare feet and hands with a group of students. Before we left, Ronny bought a less expensive wristlet made from small black stones which were found from the bottom of Tinchi. A middle age of vendor said it could bring a good fortune and health to the person who wore. I doubted but we need a good luck through to the rest of journey.

破曉后的一個夏天的早晨(6:20am)
太陽漸漸的爬升過牆頭
鮮明燦爛的陽光,直透進入這座南朝北的屋內
沁入涼意乾爽的輕風
這也是一年最珍貴的時刻..... "晨夏"



直射進入走廊上的案頭....

養花是最困難的...但又希望能四季都能看到...所以這株＂小彩花＂透過光線,才能大放異彩!上層的小古物似乎尚未清醒....


唯一種最久的水耕植物...品名不詳.....有趣的是 - - 生生不息的生長,
中央長出來的新株會將外圍的擠下水面...變成養份再轉為滋補新生命的動力.


* 時間已近7:30am..陽光已爬到庭院的木棧上...
　狗狗RUBY已穿好的黑白線條的比基尼..享受著日光浴...

RUBY選定了最佳的位置...
前有"唐竹"的葉影遮掩著稍嫌刺眼的陽光, 後身卻躲在半透的遮陽棚下~~


遠方是層層疊疊的高樓與清晰可見的山形～陽明山(左:大屯山系1030m&右:七星山系1120m)


* 夏季的台北給人最不舒服的印象是"潮濕悶熱". 實際上,在末夏初秋的九月卻是難得的體驗~~
穩定多變化的雲朵, 乾爽的涼風, 雖燦陽依舊但溫和許多, 晚霞奪目的雲彩...
還有美麗的星空與夜景.. 不管你置身在任何一個角落, 任何一段時間....都會另你心曠神怡.....

斗大的標題, 刊登在聯合報的副刊上, 內有一席話特別的吸引我:
“粽子的包法千百種, 可以包進鄉愁與冒險, 幸福與甘願, 祈福與感恩, 愛與詩……打開這般飽滿有料的聖品, 簡直是打開百寶箱了……………………………….”

回想小學時…媽有幾年特別愛上..端午前包粽子…成堆成串的掛在好幾個門把上, 小幫手的我…就是去點計粽子的數量, 以便計算是否足夠大夥吃….每回我都將甜的”豆沙粽”, 以少報多….而自己愛吃的”鹹粽”(用肉絲, 香菇, 小蝦米拌著醬料炒後再包)…則是以多報少….
哈哈! 這樣媽就會覺得鹹粽不夠…再多包一點!! 嘿嘿~~!!

現今回想那鹹粽的料雖多但不夠豐富…不像台灣粽內有蛋黃, 醬燒五花肉, 栗子和花生的…五花八門, 不同地區的料….但當時的我還是吃的津津有味呀!!

社群有位大哥是高雄人在廈門工作…端午不能回台…早在兩星期前已開始打聽在廈門那裡能買到有台灣風味的粽子….我想他應該是冰箱內有小山般的一堆粽子可吃, …….讓我驚訝的是~~昨天他才下定決心去買!! 哈哈~~太專業…謹慎了吧! (可見思鄉味有多濃啊!)
而我在台北從五月初旬開始…從北部粽吃到南部粽…又嘗了潮州粽, 上海粽..及廣東粽…..

端午節的今天…打開冰箱, 備好蒸籠, 加水, 開火, 放下粽子……
看著蒸氣的生煙,
聞著粽葉飄香…..
窗外的灰暈低氣壓將至前夕,
我在等候久違~~梅雨的到來…..

油桐花又稱 "五月雪" .....(花期:1~3星期)
當春晚夏初之際...在台灣由北到中南部的低海拔山林間...
綴滿如雪白盛開的"油桐花"! 最興奮的是每年舉辦的 "苗栗客家桐花祭活動".

當走在桐花林立的賞桐步道上, 滿心期待的是一縷縷輕風拂過, 淡淡的花香迎面撲鼻..
桐花如雪花般紛飛, 緩慢的飄落, 佈滿在山徑小路.....伴著蟬鳴的叫聲,
走累了還可到路邊民宿木屋內砌壺金宣烏龍茶...看著周邊的情境..時間似乎已在此暫停....!!

不管回程有多晚...都會忍不住地回頭望著滿山遍地的.................

她們滿足的笑容長聲說 " ~~~ 美 ~~~!!
這是當我在鵝鑾鼻燈塔處遙望環繞之海域,內心充滿感動之時刻!

恆春半島已是台灣之中央山脈最南延伸帶, 因臨接台灣海峽,巴士海峽及太平洋, 海象極為複雜
燈塔位於半島尾端,從清光緒開始至今,已導引無數船舶的安全....另外附近的沿岸是由珊瑚礁灰岩構成, 經長期海浪侵蝕,形成無數的洞穴,怪岩,礁石等特殊的地理景觀,故稱＂台灣八景＂之一.



墾丁則是有美麗浪漫的沙灘....

* 4/29天氣預報: 恆春半島 19~28 C, 晴空萬里, 吹南風, 小浪.....

終於捉住了春天最後的尾巴...湊齊好了各路英雄好漢並挑選了一個黃道吉時.
凌晨子時開車南下......越過北迴歸線, 往台灣最南端的熱帶氣候, 恆春半島--- 墾丁出發!!
預計地平線出現第一到曙光出現時...我們應該在恆春的古城下
喝著一杯濃醞的咖啡配著一道豐盛的早餐.
哇~~ 陽光...沙灘....椰林...cocktail (雞尾酒)....bikini (比基尼)....辣妹......我們來了~~~!!

一種幸福是你到了過後, 才想起原來那是“幸福啊”!!
另一種是在那一瞬間感覺到的幸運,
但那時間太短暫了,卻可以讓你記住一輩子的!!

然而 我則很幸運地
先後都遇到了這兩種是相同的一人

我想
天使說的很對
因為我還在沿著路找她
再看到她的時候
就不再放手了………………..

想象般的已到了那不再陌生的地方.
過往的道路,城市, 山區及小徑都在此留下了痕跡,
保留著它~~ 是為了能再次拜訪去過的地方!
現今我為地圖打抱不平~~ 因GPS全球定位系統的普遍,
及Google Earth (地球) 網路的快速搜尋.
地圖會不會消失在下一代的地平線上…………
或如古代長毛象變成了另一個歷史名詞!

踏上異國的風情, 才知片刻的寧靜~ 是來自思念的鄉愁.
